New construction for single-family detached house with swimming pool
Architects — José Ángel Rey & Irene Serrano
Photographs — Manolo Espaliú
Built area — 160 m²
Year — 2022
Location — Puente Genil, Cordoba, Spain

The main concern of the project was to resolve the house on a single floor, reducing the steep slope of the plot and placing the pool area at the back of the house, facing south. For this purpose, a level two meters above the street level was taken and a platform containing the land was generated at the rear. At this level, the house is organized in three volumes that embrace a central courtyard, making it versatile, comfortable and well connected to the outdoor space and the pool.

The house is organized in three volumes that embrace a central courtyard.

The house is organized in three volumes that embrace a central courtyard.

The first volume, with a gable roof, generates a porch access to the house and, after the entrance hall, the program develops by organizing bedrooms and bathrooms, open to the east.

The other two volumes, covered with concrete slabs with different inclinations, contain the day rooms, and function as the central core of the house. Inside, a porthole frames the views and a large gap with sliding doors opens onto the central courtyard and covered porch.
