The project involved a full renovation of a building from 1956 with views over Retiro park. The house was originally laid out in a very compartmentalized way, in a succession of rooms with low light.

The main idea was to create an open space by completely gutting the interior. The new layout was designed by means of a usage chart which links together complimentary and related uses. To connect the different areas, we used lightweight partitions with openings in them, resulting in a very open house. The main facade allows natural light to reach the interior patio, and the large windows with minimal profiles invite the park’s vegetation into rooms.

The preference has been to use of natural materials such as oak wood, which covers almost the entire floor house, marble for the main hallway, and glass and steel for the partitions. This approach achieves a noble character while maintaining a contemporary design concept for the use of space.
